When Malcolm Dawson's daughter Robyn is reported missing from her archeological dig in France, he sets out to look for her. The site seethes with age-old resentment and her colleagues all seem to have reason to wish her out the way. But the truth is more dangerous than anyone could have imagined.
I've recently become interested in the Albigensian crusade and the Cathars. Most nonfiction work on the subject is full of dry details. This book is a good way to get the flavor of the Languedoc in the 13th century without wading through lots of dates and names. The story is clever and told with warmth and suspense. It's a quick, entertaining read.
