This book is absolutely adorable! I don't think I can make any of the crafts, but I don't care. Years ago when the first "Gnomes" book came out I fell in love with the drawings. The book was always wow expensive, and I never bought it. Now, who cares? This "Gnomes Book of Christmas Crafts" is wonderful. It starts out with carved gnomes. I can't carve, but I might try copying the design in clay. There are full-sized patterns, detailed instructions for sewing, and full color copyable pictures to work with. There are sewing projects (can't do it), painting projects (can't do it), and even ideas for baking and decorating cookies like gnomes (YES I CAN!). Lovely, lovely, lovely. I have to see if I can get our local supermarket to color copy the gnome figures onto edible paper to decorate the cookies. The little storyline about the author and her family is 'whatever,' but the pictures of the home (theirs?) are nice, and give a real Scandinavian look to all the projects. This book is definitely for people who like gnomes. (And little red mushrooms with white polka dots.) It's Christmas-y enough with an Advent calendar and stuff, but it's for year-round gnome lovers. And oh, wow, the lady-gnome tea cozy!
