Today, the entire field of astrology is changing in more important and profound ways than ever before!In both of these two, traditional western and eastern astrological traditions; each of these have now begun changing and improving in more important and profound ways, than throughout their entire, history!In the west, in a system that has stood relatively unchanged for over 1500 years, now suddenly in the span of one single generation, this traditional system has already begun, most fundamentally changing.In fact, sixty years ago now, one lone western astrology by the name of Cyril Fagan first suggested that we change this traditional western astrological system. He'd long believed that astrology should fit the actual sky.And he'd been both surprised and startled by the fact, that the traditional western system no longer fit the actual sky!He then began a very lengthy and in-depth study of the history of western astrology and he found out, how this present incarnation of astrology has now become what it is.During the Dark Ages, for example, he'd discovered how very little western astrology was being either practiced or written about. Later, however, in those centuries right after these Dark Ages, in those that wanted to get astrology going again, they seized upon the ancient writings and mathematics of that famous Roman astrologer by the name of Ptolemy.Thus, Ptolemy's mathematics now became an intimate part of this new western astrology that was being re-initiated again. At that time, his mathematics did pretty much fit the actual sky and no one noticed how over time, it would begin separating from those actual movements of the stars and planets from above.Today, on the other hand we have a modern day science of astronomy whose mathematics is so precise and so right on, that we can predict where the Sun, planets and stars will be in a year, in 100 and even 10,000 years into the future.Way back when however, Ptolemy's mathematics wasn't quite so profound. And no one noticed because his mathematics only separated from the actual sky, about 1 degree every seventy-two years!Now, however, some twenty-three, seventy-two years periods later, we have a mathematics of western astrology which is more than 23 degrees 'off' those exact movements of the stars and planets from above.For Fagan, this was a very deplorable mistake and one that should be corrected, as soon as possible.He then introduced a completely new, 23-degree different mathematics which then became known as the Sidereal western astrological system.And, even now, just 60-years later, so many professional western astrologers and students have learned this so very different western system, that the old, antiquated, traditional western system is now beginning to be called Tropical western astrology.Then there is that traditional eastern system of astrology which is also, today, changing in more important and profound ways than ever before!Though, since this system has long been actual sky or Sidereal in terms of its mathematics, it hasn't needed to change in this way. Instead, a very intense and pervasive "fatalism" has long existed within this traditional eastern system which has turned out to have the most surprising and stifling and negative results!For example, much of the real power and profundities of astrology is not discovered, if such a fatalistic perspective found dominating. Today, more of this very pervasive fatalism is now beginning to disappear than ever before.And of all of these most important and profound of changes going on today, the most significant of all is in terms of 'how' astrology is now beginning to be understood and practiced as the most important of Self-development tools.Almost exclusively in the past, astrology has only been "diagnostic" oriented or about 'how' our charts, profoundly fit us.
