Book Overview

From the New York Times bestselling author of Part of Your World comes a romantic comedy full of "fierce humor and fiercer heart" about how one adorable puppy brings together two perfect strangers (Casey McQuiston, NYT bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue).

Artist Sloan Monroe just can't seem to get her life on track. But one trouble-making pup who randomly jumps into her car with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With Tucker by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak? Fun quick read

A great quick read for vacation or just a break from responsibility. A little like watching a decent rom-com (I mean that in a good way). Believable characters and a storyline that is simultaneously predictable and keeps you guessing. The only thing not believable is that a mid-20s artist owns her own house in Canoga Park.

It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s romantic and at times, it’s scary.

This book has it all. I don’t read much at all but read it to take to the beach and I got hooked. I couldn’t hardly put it down. I hated the 8 hour drive home because I couldn’t read while I was driving.

Heartbreaking and beautiful

Why does Abby Jimenez have to do this to us? Every single book she writes is that perfect blend of humour and gut-wrenching sadness. I wasn't sure I could handle Sloan's story after The Friend Zone stole my heart, but this was perfect. I appreciate the overarching plots that the world will throw every obstacle in your path as a couple, but you can make it work even so. It's a new version of the romance genre to me, and I don't think I can read any other books like this, because it is so good. Abby Jimenez has ruined me for other books!
