The Holy Lance

An evil dictator who faked his death. An adventurer with an impressive pedigree. An international race to recover the most sought after relic of all time. Allan Quatermain, a World War II veteran of the Special Service Brigade and expert in the history of war and battlefield archeology-and great grandson of one very famous adventurer-is requested by the Special Service to locate the Holy Lance and either obtain it or destroy it before the Nazis can get their hands on it. After all, the Special Service has reason to believe that Adolf Hitler is in hiding in Argentina and is seeking the Holy Lance. Quatermain travels to Oxford to begin the investigation and calls on Hannah Rain, art historian, at Magdalen College. He tells her that her father, Dr. Julius Rain, has been abducted by the Nazis. Hannah immediately guesses why-she tells Quatermain that, two weeks prior, her father told her he knew the location of the Holy Lance. Soon, Hannah and Allan head toward Istanbul to seek her father and save him from the Nazis, and also recover the Holy Lance. As they travel under the ruse of newlyweds, Allan knows they are being followed. Danger arises at every turn-and so does his attraction for Hannah, a woman who knows what she wants. On the Orient Express train, Allan and Hannah meet an Austrian baron who reluctantly served under Hitler during the war. He asks them a lot of questions. But is he friend or foe? As Allan and Hannah get closer to finding and recovering the Holy Lance, will its truth be their saving grace or their fatal undoing?
