♫ As the images unwind, like the circles that you findIn the windmills of your mind ♫ - Legrand/BergmanThe title of this anthology is borrowed from that most wonderful song The Windmills of Your Mind, which was a big hit for the angelic-looking Noel Harrison back in 1968 when I was still a red-blooded teenager.Unbidden, a memory from childhood or adolescence or adulthood - a fragment of a life lived across these last seven decades - will conjure up an image in my mind. And that is where it begins for me. As the image unwinds, I always feel compelled to write about that person or that time or that event. Often the writing will be in the form of a short story, but just as often it will turn into an even shorter piece of prose - an anecdote, if you like.So in this latest collection of my writings I've assembled my most recent short stories, together with a selection of those anecdotes I've penned over the years. One of the latter even features The Windmills of Your Mind I hope the following is of some interest, if not entertainment.Brendan GisbyJuly 2020
