America's favorite family of superheroes finally returns, courtesy of legendary comics scribe Mark Waid (Kingdom Come, The Flash)! The Incredibles face terrifying new villains...and friendly new... This description may be from another edition of this product.
In the wave of superhero-related movies that have come out over the past few years, easily one of the cutest and funniest--and most charming--has been The Incredibles. The story of a family of superpowered beings who lived in a world where superheroics were outlawed, it was a giant hit that went on to earn more than $600 million worldwide (and gave us the delightful catchphrase "No capes!"). So no wonder then that it continues to inspire licensed properties, including the new The Incredibles: Family Matters, which collects the four-issue miniseries from earlier this year. The series is written by the multitalented Mark Waid, who is every bit as good writing fun characters for kids as he is at doing the more adult fare of Irredeemable and Kingdom Come. He's joined by artist Marcio Takara, who evinces the style of the movie well while infusing the work with great comic flair at the same time. The story revolves around Mr. Incredible, the powerhouse and scion of the family, losing his powers while his family is faced with a new threat, which leaves the stretchy Mrs. Incredible to fend for herself and the kids. It's a nice, simple, easy-to-follow plot that young readers will enjoy, regardless of whether they've seen the movie. It's fun to spend some time with these characters again, and it's nice to see them handled so well. -- John Hogan

The writer really captures the characters' way of speaking in this story! Just like in the film. Good original characters are added, and excellent art carries it through. And look at the book with the DJ off! Great Kirby-homage art on the hardcover edition. Comes with a sewn-in red ribbon for a bookmark (a nice, quality touch). Well worth your money! Buy now, before the volume sells out! By the way, there are MORE COLLECTIONS!
