The Journey is a story of decisions and their consequences, how many people have influenced one life over the years, and how God intervened in, contributed to and shaped that life. The book begins by recounting Jerry Allen's family roots and growing up in Alabama. He started out without a personal knowledge of God but encountered him in the U.S. Navy. The Korean war and its aftermath catapulted him into a series of decisions that would lead to an exciting life in many places. The focus of those adventures, with God now at the helm, was New Guinea in the southwest Pacific, where he was involved in working with colleagues, local and expatriate, to help translate the Bible into different minority languages. The Journey continues beyond New Guinea with stories about Jerry and his wife helping with translation work in other countries. May this book encourage the reader to trust God through the Lord Jesus Christ as it illustrates the many ways in which God guided, provided, protected and enabled.Jerry Allen is the author of The Scarlet Cord and co-author of A Light for Our Path, both books available on Amazon.com. He is an ex-Navy Seabee, an alumnus of Auburn, Multnomah School of the Bible (now Multnomah University), Wheaton College and the University of Texas at Arlington. He served with Wycliffe Bible Translators from 1960 to 1998. He and his wife, Janice, helped translate the New Testament and other materials into the Halia language on Buka Island, Papua New Guinea. They have also assisted Bible translators in other countries. They reside in Texas, and have two married daughters and six grandchildren.
