The Landlord is the best suspense novel I have read in a long time. From the first page to the last it leaves your heart pounding and has you sitting on the edge of your seat. Mr Merrell introduces each character in a way that you feel you know them on a personal level or at least say i've met him/her before and some you pray you never meet. He keeps the suspense right down to the last page and leaves you wanting more. I am looking forward to other books by Ken Merrell. What an exciting movie The Landlord would make. You can't get enough of this book.
Mother Neglects Almost all to Finish The Landlord
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 23 years ago
Other than our baby, almost everything else in our home was neglected over the two day period in which my wife could not put down The Landlord. I had already begun it but could not finish until the 13 day work week was over. But when I picked it up, again, the neglect came from me. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN, EITHER! The character named Melvin Briggs just could not be the person he seemed. The author superbly paints him in a manner that convinces you against all your reason that Briggs is not who you reason him to be. Mr. Merrell's character portrayals snap your linear train of thought to consider multi-dimensional possibilities for all characters in the book. Are people who they appear to be. Don't read the ending first!!!! YOU ARE IN FOR AN EXHILARATING RIDE!
I had difficulty putting it down

At first I had difficulty keeping the people straight, and the events, but I soon became engrossed in the plat and had difficulty putting the book down.
Exciting page-turner.

This is such a good example of how unwise it is to pre-judge a person until you really know them. There are many people in this book who deserve a waiting period before passing judgment on him/her. Also, I found this book satisfying inasmuch as there was NO profanity, no sex, no activities I would not want the teenagers in my family to read. I loved it - and found it very exciting.

The Landlord is an entertwined novel of family devotion and suspense. The author, Ken Merrell, has a way of weaving the story of several characters into an interesting story with a suprise ending. A must read book for all. I couldn't put it down.
