An elegant gift book which elaborates on the traditional meanings of flowers, The Language of Flowers is illustrated by history's most famous botanical artist. 25 full-color illustrations. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This miniature book is organized alphabetically by flower name and holds a surprising amount of information within it's tiny pages. For centuries symbols have been used in place of writing. Symbols cross the language barriers and one need not be literate to know what they mean. In fact, that is why flowers have been used as symbols, for most of history only the privilaged were literate. A rose may be a rose by any other name, yet the color and kind say volumes. Perfect for the inarticulate man or woman who needs to send a letter of love or apology. Excellent for well-wishers or thank yous, even for going-away gifts and anniverseries. Well worth your money. I know it was well worth mine. The reason it got a seven was not the fault of the publisher. The space was too limited for all the information I wished for it to contain, such as, pictures of the flowers and even more meanings. The pictures that are in the book are exquisite.
