When one considers the sad fate of the flower children of the 60s and the 70s, of this America of ours, one considers a calamity of major proportions, of which I've attempted to set down in writing. America is concerned with an assimilation of peoples, conquering within. In the final analysis, the individual, the maverick, the freedom fighter, has been overcome by the establishment. In the final analysis, there is only one individual, only one who is also a maverick, and the final freedom fighter, who stands absolutely alone and vulnerable before all the wiles, of the ever more powerful, omnipresent establishment. He can only be wild because he is so, naturally. He stands on four legs, not two, because those are all assimilated. He is deer, or The Last Flower Child.
