Great for beginners

I bought this book (and the Learning edition of SAS) to teach myself how to use the software. Starting with the first tutorial, I felt very comfortable naavigating the software while following the steps outlined in the book. I would highly recommend it to someone who has never used SAS before. That said, the sections of the book after the tutorial are less helpful for beginners. They provide a thorough documentation of how to do things in SAS, but if you don't know what you're looking for, it's not that helpful. I sought out other tutorials for free on the Internet that proved more useful while teaching myself to use this powerful program.
Excellent introduction

The first reviewer of this book is right; all this book does is give a 'walk through' of the tutorial that one can also get from the Tutorial package that comes with the program. But, let me tell you, the 'walk through' is done VERY WELL. The book basically spoon feeds; but, I loved it. I got the book for free, but, I have to admit, when I saw the price, it gave me a sticker shock.
