I was so surprised at how good this book was. I bought it thinking, okay someone is trying to write Gossip girl in a different time, but it's totally addictive. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next one to come out in June!
I wanted to live inside its pages

I adored reading The Luxe! I've already read every Edith Wharton novel and similar in existence and I thought I had exhausted the entire glittering genre UNTIL The Luxe came along and showed me that turn-of-the-century, social-climing romances are not dead. Hurray! The story is gripping, the characters are deliciously addictive, and the descriptions of Lord & Taylor ballgowns and NYC mansions and manners of a bygone age made me want to live inside its pages. Think House of Mirth Light. I can't wait for the next installment!
Loved It!!!!

Loved it, loved it, loved it! This book is fantastic. I knows its a teen novel, but I'm 30 and I found it very entertaining! It's definitly not your average teen romance novel. I cannot wait for the sequel!
Guilty Pleasure

Okay, I have a confession. I really like THE GOSSIP GIRLS. When I read the first book a few years ago, I didn't care that much for the tale. It wasn't until it became a series that I got hooked. Plus I love time period pieces. What do you get when you combine THE GOSSIP GIRLS with 1899 Mahattan's social scene? THE LUXE! Two sisters, Elizabeth and Diana Holland rule Manhattan's social scene. Throw in a scandalous change in family fortune, a back stabbing socialite frenemy, Penelope Hayes, a debonair bachelor Henry Schoonmaker, though engaged to the older sister has eyes for the younger, and a spiteful maid, Lina Bround. Elizabeth is forced to marry Henry, to help save her family but she has a secret. She's in love with the family coachman, Will. What's she going to do? When her carriage overturns near the East River, the girl who's glamorous life was on the NY gossip pages-some wonder whether life at the top was too much for Elizabeth or if someone wanted her to disappear. I really enjoyed this book. It has it all: high society, 1899 Manhattan, balls, envy, lust, and betrayal. What more can you want? This book reminds me of dark chocolate. Reading this book is one guilty pleasure. I can't wait for the sequel!
