The Mentality of Apes

Kohler's THE MENTALITY OF APES provides me with a model of anthropoid (one certainly may read here 'homo sapiens in-sapiens') problem solving-- which to his careful examination of leftover zoo chimps hardly resembles the problem-solving of 'switching circuitry' at the foundation of the modern computer. [In such a way-- reading Kohler and all the subsequent Gestaltists-- I am inclined to think the AI/artificial-intelligence model for 'neural networks' to be a great boon to top-down/bottom-up problematic resolution-- but emphatically INACCURATE for defining the neuro-physiological pragmatics of how mammals/apes/humans muddle-through in total-systems-ways-- bodily, psychically, 'socially' {NOT an irrelevant consideration in the behavioral phenotype!}] The power of models that have-effect for PCs is useful for the 'monkeys-we-is' as tooling problem-resolution, but the animal-us still goes about problem-solving in ways indistinguishable-- and at all hyle-bio-psycho-social ways comparable to Kohler's ape-mentality. My long-term interest in poring this book, with repetitive reads, fast, slow, selective, total, close, spacy-reflective-- will in part be to examine the hyle-bio-psycho-sociality of PRAYER as a problem-solving identical to the muddlement of Kohler's Chimps. Too long I think the societal/social rubricization of praying as some bowing-head-closing-eyes-folding-hands-saying-cliches business and not the mode of the prophets JESUS ISAIAH MUHAMMAD LAO-TZE CRAZY-HORSE-- and the vexing hexing trouble which constitutes the problematic of the truly Gestalt-generating palpably evidences in the Writs these Whollies/Holies have artifacted for us (Q in the case of Jesus Nazarene.) As the language-of-nature is the-Law-of-God/Jahweh/Allah-- for all its bittersweet & AC/DC-- warts-and-all-- NOT the supposed-to-Be of (Roman, Anglican, Eastern) Catholicisms-- may we attack the Answers derivative from what Paul Tillich called 'the shaking of the foundations' and thence resolution-- 'all warfare accomplished' (Isaiah 40:2.) This book then begins to approach/attack an issue clearly invoked from Kohler-- but then to Abraham Maslow-- IF there be Insights/Gestalts/Formative-Peak-Experiences, HOW do we generate them in a way not-Madness, not-Derangement, not-Psychosis, then not-Disturbing-the-Peace-Disorderly-Conduct. --Vernon Lynn Stephens
