You will savor this book, chapter by chapter. The characters are precious and give readers a look into the Irish personality. The ending satisfies and will keep you in awe. And there is history afoot, too. You can take it a step further and investigate and learn about the place where the main male character spent his early life.

This is the best book I have read in a very long time! From the moment I picked it up and read the first page I was hooked, as the characters are so real and loveable and the descriptions are so vivid and full of life, it is impossible to put down. The author has painted a picture of life in Ireland which at times is very moving, but it is done with such humour and remarkable attention to detail it is certainly a story that will stay with the reader for a long time. Don't miss a wonderful book.

The Misremembered Man is a charming yet harsh portrait of Ireland and some of it's characters, mainly a man and a woman whose younger lives shared a common bond, oppression. This tale is engrossing although a wee syrupy at times, and here and there are touches of humor that are in sharp contrast to the lives of these two people. The author builds the characters well, then plops them in the middle of life in the small towns of Ireland. You might feel the final chapters will bring a heartwarming predictable ending that you hoped would happen, but the writer surprises you....worth the time to curl up on a comfortable sofa and read the day away.
