They have used it so much as well as myself. Thinking about getting the other ones like this. 10000 percent recommend
Great for college graduates just starting out

I've had this book since my junior year of college and have found it to be an enormously helpful book. From its collection of quick and tasty recipes to when to splurge/save when building up a wardrobe to the rules of golf (which I needed to learn quickly for a tournament I recently attended), this book has it all. As I make the transition into the "working world", I have used this book to help me balance my checkbook, buy my first car and even decorate my apartment. This is a great book to skim through on a lazy Sunday afternoon as well as keep beside the bed for quick reference. Jane Buckingham realizes that life, both hers and her readers, is never going to be perfect and does not try to instill a Martha Stewart like quest for domestic perfection into readers. Rather, she encourages us to blend splurging with thriftiness, authenticity with who-would-have-known-these-were-McDonald's-french-fries and optimism with a healthy dose of realism. Ultimately she shows that no matter what your budget or lifestyle is, you can live well and not break the bank doing it. Some reviewers might deride her for offering what should be "common sense" but with some of the antics that go on in today's world, I think we could all benefit from a quick Common-Sense 101 review session. That said, the majority of her advice and tips go beyond mere common sense.
A Must for Any college girl

Starting out on my own was very hard but this book provided the key! This book should be read by any young woman getting out on her own! There are so many ideas in here as to how to clean, entertain, do laundry etc. Many of the ideas I wouldn't have thought of on my own. I plan on giving my little sister this book when she moves out on her own. It is a must read!
Amazing Guide to THIS Girl's Life

I have been a follower of Ms. Jane Buckingham for a good long while now. I am a fan of her show on the "Style" channel and think that she is a great voice for all young and "older" women who are still looking for the answers to life... LIKE which fork do you REALLY use for the fish course. "The Modern Girl's Guide to Life" is a wonderful compilation of helpful facts, tips, and general know-how. I love the structure, tone, and all around helpful nature of this book. Not to mention the really great way that Ms. Buckingham has of making you feel like you aren't the only one in the world who doesn't really know the best way to ask for a raise - what to wear to the opera - or the basics of buying a home. Ms. Buckingham says that you shouldn't be afraid to ask for what you want - and do something you love.... with that said, if you are looking for new people to work for your company Ms. Buckingham - give me call! :) I love this book - and think that many of my girlfriends will be getting this one for the holidays! Cheers!

Who knew that all of the things my mother should have taught me could be found in one great book? This book has taken me from domestic and financial incompetence to confidence in everything from entertaining to better shopping to financial planning so tht I can hope to retire and pay for my kids' college. This book is a lifesaver and will continue to be useful to me (and my friends who I'm giving it to for Christmas) for a long long time.
So much fun!

This book is great!! It's incredibly helpful and has tips you'd actually use but that don't take a ton of effort. (Who knew you shouldn't store milk in the door of a refrigerator????) There's an unbelievable amount of information here, but it's really fun to read. I bought it as a birthday present but now I want to keep it!
