Book Overview

THE USA TODAY BESTSELLER

The Murder List is a new standalone suspense novel in the tradition of Lisa Scottoline and B. A. Paris from award-winning author and reporter Hank Phillippi Ryan.

"An exhilarating thrill ride that keeps you turning pages.. Ryan deftly delivers a denouement as shocking as it is satisfying."--Liv Constantine, bestselling author of The Last Mrs. Parrish and The Last Time I Saw You

Law student Rachel North will tell you, without hesitation, what she knows to be true. She's smart, she's a hard worker, she does the right thing, she's successfully married to a faithful and devoted husband, a lion of Boston's defense bar, and her internship with the Boston DA's office is her ticket to a successful future.

Problem is--she's wrong.

And in this cat and mouse game--the battle for justice becomes a battle for survival.

Unexpectedly Good

This book kept me engrossed for its entirety. It is written in such a way that it is an easier read while still having steady twists and turns. Even now, a couple days after finishing it, I can't help but think about it.

Great Legal Thriller

Never having read any books by this author I wasn't sure what to expect but I'd heard good things about her books so was hoping for a good read. I was not disappointed. The Murder List still has me shaking my head hours later. Hank Phillippi Ryan is a powerful storyteller and kept my interest from the beginning to the end. A legal thriller par excellence with strong characters that you either really like or really despise (some you'd even like to smack!) and a plot that has several twists that had me wondering how did I miss that. Layer by layer the author unwraps a complex story of murders, cold cases, and an inside look at legal activity from the ADA to the prosecutor to the jury itself. Needless to say, I will be looking for more of Ryan's books. Readers who enjoy fast-paced suspense stories will not want to miss this one. Since I usually review books in the Christian genre, be aware this book has a few 'cuss' words. I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
