Hugh Thomas is not only a prolific author, and one of the United Kingdoms top forensic authorities, Baron in the English peerage, hardly someone who is going to peddle 'idiotic and uneducated' theories about the fate of Adolf Hitler. Whether you agree with his conclusions or not (I, personall, am undecided) you cannot deny they are well thought out and compelling.
An Interesting and VERY Plausable Theory on Hitler's Demise

Hugh Thomas does an outstanding job of laying out his case that Hitler did not die by his own hand in the bunker. I am not a giant conspiracy theory guy, but I believe Hugh Thomas makes his case well and I am convinced he is on the right track. I think an important piece of the puzzle was neglected in Thomas's book which makes his theory even more believable, and this piece comes from Feist's book, "INSIDE HITLER'S BUNKER". I think the relationship between Hermann Fegelein and Eva Braun is underplayed in Thomas's book, and once this relationship is understood, it makes Hugh Thomas's theory on what happened in those last days in the bunker entirely believable. No one will ever know for certain what happened, as Heinz Linge, Martin Bormann, and Artur Axmann brought the secret to their graves with them, but I think Feist's book and Thomas's books combined give the best picture of that last week in the madhouse which was the Fuhrer's bunker. Overall, an excellent and thought provoking book, no matter if you agree with its theory or not. This is a "must read" for students of the Reich.

Like a great detective, Thomas explores and thoroughly checks every scrap of evidence before he comes to conclusions. His forensic background only heightens his credibility and serves to convince you even more as you read this intrigueing story. Thomas goes to great lengths to reconstruct what actually happened in those last few weeks in the bunker and afterwards, and is quite convincing in doing so. Was Hitler actually murdered and did things occur the way Thomas surmizes? The world may never know as all living evidence is now gone. This is a most fascinating detective story that will make you think and wonder.
