The New Age Baby Name Book is the quirky naming guide that has outlasted the trendiness of New Age. It has a total of 20,000 names including classic, popular, offbeat & even gender-neutral that are... This description may be from another edition of this product.
In a world of baby name books that are all the same as what you find on the internet for free, this book stands out. With a large intro section on different naming philosophies and ideas on how to make up your own name if you want, it's a complete guide - not just a list of names. Which there are tons of in this book. Many of the names are more common, but also included are names from all over the world. I feel like I'm not just searching for a name for my baby, but also learning a little bit about different cultures around the world to boot! I nearly didn't purchase the book because of the name, but on closer inspection I was impressed. If there was one suggestion I would have for the author, it would be to change the name. "New Age" doesn't mean the same thing now that it used to mean when it was a newly created term. Overall, this is a highly original resource for parents looking to name their child something different and/or original, or something with lots of cultural significance.
An enjoyable book.A real classic.

As there are so many baby names books I found it hard to narrow the choices.I read other reviews of this book and finally purchased it.It was a good choice.I enjoyed this book. Not your average-boring book but a very well researched book. The book has character. One of the most comprehensive listing of names and variations I have ever seen and that makes this book better than most.Interesting trivia throughout too.Plenty of advice on what to consider when naming a baby. Its a good size book, printed on good quality paper with a unique cover, etc make this book a worthwhile addition. I also recommend these: "Whats wrong with every name in the book:don't name your baby".By David Narter. "The very best baby name book in the whole wide world".By Bruce Lansky.
REALLY PRETTY, A GREAT GIFT

A really pretty baby name book. I'm talking here about the yellow book with the Mary Engelbreit cover; I see this book has a number of versions. But the one I bought was just gorgeous. It's full of great names and has lots of lovely boxes packed with intriguing trivia. Apparently, when this book was first published in the 70s, it was the only baby name book to contain unusual names in addition to Mary and John. My mother still has one of the original copies (she named me with it!),but in my opinion this latest edition is even better. A timeless classic.
WHAT FUN!!!

Lots of great names from all over the world. This book has a real "internet" feel about it. It has all the timeless classics like Sarah, Emily, Joshua and Austin. Plus tons of appealing new names I hadn't thought of. I found the no-angst chapter on the psychology of naming my baby especially reassuring, and the section on the best ways to create a name was a blast!!
Wish I'd Found This One First!!!

As a college teacher, I found this book extremely intelligent, well-researched and beautifully written. But most of all, it was a sheer pleasure to read. I bought three other name books, but this one was definitely the most fun. Don't let the "new age" title confuse you. The author defines the new age as a much-hoped-for time when prejudice and fear will at last melt away and we'll all live together in peace and harmony. A beautiful thought, a beautiful book. Highly recommended!!!
