-- The government, population, and history of every state in the United States-- The economy, population, and brief history of every country in the world-- The winners of the Academy Award in every major category since its inception in 1928-- The names and lifetime statistics of every player in the Baseball Hall of Fame-- All Nobel laureates, and why they won their prizes-- Every endangered species in the United States, and their habitats-- Sales figures for every Fortune 500 company-- Obituaries of leading world figures-- The astronauts and accomplishments of every space flight in historyThe New York Times Almanac brings together more information on more subjects -- and in a more readable manner -- than any other almanac on the market. Up-to-date, with key facts and figures organized in an easily accessible fashion and set in historical context, this is the first choice for students, journalists, and researchers -- for anyone who needs timely, accurate information about the United States and other nations around the globe. Drawing on the unmatched resources of The New York Times, this volume gives more in-depth news than rival almanacs, and provides detailed coverage of many subjects omitted from other fact-finders.
I use both THE NEW YORK TIMES ALMANAC and THE WORLD ALMANAC as references. The strengths of the former are its articles on world energy, the global economy and the global military situation. As a big fan of the movies, I find its lack of biographical data on celebrities and actors to be an annoying weakness.
much better than the other guys

I'm a bit of an almanac afficionado, and the NYT Almanac -- in its organization, content and style -- beats the rest, hands down. More relevant facts, a logical layout, and even a readable typeface make this book an almanac lover's dream.

This book is truly innovative. It gives us a view at the Aborigonies of Southern Djibouti. A must buy. Wright is a literal genius.
