Cartoonist Jesse Reklaw turns the dreams of strangers into the most insightful, humorous, and clever four-panel comic strips you have ever read in The Night of Your Life. This hardcover volume captures the sublime pleasure of tumbling through the freewheeling narrative of our sleeping lives. Each strip is an adaptation of the many dreams submitted to Reklaw from all over the world, every one a unique and compelling journey into a landscape to which we all travel. The Night of Your Life is a testament to the ability of comics to illuminate the corridors of the imagination with wit, sincerity, and joy.
I actually bought this for a friend as a gift and they brought it to coffee and shared some of the comics with me! How fun and entertaining. Perfect thing to keep near your desk. When you need a 2-minute sanity break, pick this up and absorb a few of these one-page gems! Will be buying a copy for myself and others this year, for sure.
The theater of sleep

For those who think other people's dreams are boring, here's proof to the contrary. Jesse Reklaw has been inviting people to send him their dreams for years now, boiling them down to their essence & rendering them in four succinct but focused panels. This yields fascinating work! Some dreams are absurd & ludicrous; others are unsettling & ominous. And more often than not, they're all of those things at the same time. The art is simple, clear, and always effective. The dreams themselves illuminate the apparently limitless breadth & depth of the unconscious mind -- if some specific images don't resonate, their emotional content almost always does. We all share the same human fears, doubts, dreads, hopes & joys, after all. But our minds dress them up in distinctly individual costumes we'll easily recognize & identify with ... and the results are both startling & compelling. A fine addition to the slim bookshelf of dreams in graphic format!
Wonderful!

In this book, regular people supply their real dreams, complete with the baffling, hilarious, evocative, and/or poignant dream-logic that will strike a chord in every reader. But it's Jesse Reklaw's pitch-perfect renderings in four panels of the dreams that elevate this to brilliance. I love this book.

Jesse Reklaw's idea of creating a comic strips out of other peoples' dreams is absolute genius. This is a fun book to have as it's a brief glimpse into the subconscious of people around the world. It's wildly entertaining as the dreams can, and often do, lean toward the odd but are drawn in a way that makes them appear absolutely possible. I've been reading these comics for years and am happy to have a collection at home to look at whenever I want.

Comics made out of other people's dreams are surprisingly interesting. Some funny, som ironic, some sad - Jesse Reklaw perfectly captures the unreal nature of dreams. Dreams are messages, and these are perfectly selected and exquisitely drawn. My favorite part is facial expressions of the comic characters - the artist is really good at capturing dream-related emotions. This is one of my favorite coffee table books. I keep a few of Jesse Reklaw's books to give out as gifts - they are great conversation pieces.
