A good book, but not for beginners.

Despite what the foreword might say, you will not have success with this book without having any basic knowledge of programming. It starts off with showing classes from the get go, and this only confuses the beginner (like it did me). If you already have knowledge in another language, you merely have to learn syntax and new ideas with this book, and should have no problem understanding it. But if you have never programmed, or at least taken one semester of programming in any language, you will be lost with this book. After retaking Intro to C++ using a beginners approach, I actually like this book, and even recommend it. But DO NOT BUY if you don't have a semester's worth of programming under your belt.
