wonderful memoir of a vanishing way of life

I, too, grew up in northeastern Montana, though on a farm, not in town like the author. She has written a closely-observed account of a free-ranging childhood on the high prairie, with a bittersweet family struggle underlying the day-to-day events. I found it fascinating.
