Like its highly acclaimed companions, The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry and The Outlaw Bible of American Literature, this edition is a prime for generational revolt and an enduring document of the visionary tradition of authenticity and nonconformity in American lives and letters. A raucous eruption of language and a showcase for the best essayists of our time, The Outlaw Bible of American Essays chronicles American history and measures the boundlessness of dissident thought.
I am surprised that no one has done a reivew on this yet. It is a great company piece to the other American Outlaw titles. The same cast of characters comes through but in essay form. Notable writers include Huber Selby Jr., Elridge Cleaver, and Kurt Vonnegut. You also get some very cool music related essays by Ray Charles and John Sinclair of the MC5. This selection is thinner than the others (which are fairly mammoth). That I would say is the only draw back but it's still close to 400 pages so it's not like you're being cheated. It's still a great deal for your money. For some reason, this edition wasn't as advertised as the others but don't let that shy you away. This is deffinetly a cool collection. Bottom line: get it before it becomes unavalible.
