After her husband's death Lady Gwynevere drifts into the steamy underworld of London's private nightclubs but she takes a break from the scene because her life suddenly feels empty. And because, one night, she accidentally sees the manager of one of those nightclubs disposing of the body of a dead or unconscious woman in a disturbingly occult way. When her brother-in-law David asks her to accompany him and his son Theo to India on a longterm business stint, Gwynevere, by now painfully estranged from her daughter Xaviera, believes that acting as Theo's guardian in a foreign country will give her a chance at a more meaningful life. And possibly a second chance at maternity. But Gwynevere soon begins to observe unsettling superhuman characteristics in Theo. He is bigger and stronger and far more well-read than most young men his age. He has a passion for wordplay and philosophy-Sci-Fi and Fantasy. He valorizes Lana Lang as a woman of silk and steel but dismisses Lois Lane as a brash insecure thirdwave feminist. Each time he expresses his anarchistic and male-chauvinist views Gwynevere can't decide whether Theo's just being a provocative fifteen-year-old or whether darker powers are secretly operating in his psyche. In Bombay, Theo develops a fierce irrational hatred for his British principal at the international school he attends. When a demonic monk warns Gwynevere away from interfering in Theo's downward spiral Gwynevere knows the stakes have suddenly escalated beyond anything she imagined. As the vibrant city of Bombay rapidly evolves into a playground for supernatural forces-Gwynevere struggles to determine whether Theo is destined to be the instrument of angels-or of demons. Complicating matters is the devastatingly beautiful Lord Tarquin Glastonbury-Rayne whom Gwynevere encounters under strange circumstances. Why is a young British aristocrat bumming around Bombay on possibly criminal missions for darkweb traders and how can Gwynevere even contemplate a blissful tropical romance with Tarquin when she has to save her nephew from the people and forces trying to destroy his soul?
