Cloning sheep, cattle, and chimps is only the beginning. Using Fossil Gene Redemption (FGR), geneticist Kevin G. Harrigan experiments with genes from a frozen "Ice Man." His work prompts Iraqi leader... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Scientists might argue with the science of TPR, but whether it's accurate or even plausible science is not important. For me, an educated but unscientific reader, the novel offers a vision of who we are and how we got here. The characters and plot draw us emotionally into the story, and the science keeps us fascinated. The story is more compelling because we feel the same curiosity the novel's characters feel about our ancestor organisms. Fortunately, Dan left himself room for a sequel. I'm looking forward to reading it.

A fine first novel with good science behind the fiction

I found TPR fast-paced and exciting, entirely too hard to put down. From my point of view as an intelligent and reasonably savvy non-scientist, I found the science in the story a little far-fetched, but very well thought out and internally consistent. Too many authors writing adventure stories contrive any pseudo-science that advances their story; Gallagher deserves credit for taking the time to do it right. I look forward to more.

If you like a novel that combines science fiction, delivers a thought provoking message that you will revisit for a very long time, has a spy thriller flavor, and grabs you from the first pages, then The Pleistocene Redemption is a MUST READ!!--The message in this book is clear that we must choose what is right over our own will even when the choice is quite fearful. The way this message is delivered throughout the novel is spiritual and thought provoking!!-- After finishing this well written novel I had a difficult time believing this was the work of a first time author. In fact the first thing I did upon finishing is to reread the first chapter which is quite fun to do!! --Do yourself a favor, read this book!!!

If you like a novel that combines science fiction, delivers a thought provoking message that you will revisit for a very long time, has a spy thriller flavor, and grabs you from the first pages, then The Pleistocene Redemption is a MUST READ!!--The message in this book is clear (and certainly not philosophical mismash) that we must choose what is right over our own will even when the choice is quite fearful. The way this message is delivered throughout the novel is spiritual and thought provoking!!-- After finishing this well written novel I had a difficult time believing this was the work of a first time author. In fact the first thing I did upon finishing is to reread the first chapter which is quite fun to do!!--I disagree with comments from the previous reader. It is not appropriate to compare a first time author to classic novels written by giants in the industry. The previous reader also entirely missed the message, oh well....--Do yourself a favor, read this book!!!
