The basic information in the book is certainly informative and useful, however the little story that runs throughout the book reads like a fairy tale. It is distracting and just plain silly to write a serious book on the importance of shaking hands and illustrate it with such fluff. I realize this topic can be covered in a modest number of pages. Many other books do an admirable job of just that. Perhaps the fairy tale was added to justify the cost of this book and make a short subject seem worthy of more pages and ink. If so, it seems a poor choice. Four stars for information, but none for the annoying story. It was distracting and an ill-considered choice at best.
Interesting and Useful Book

"The Power of Handshaking" by Robert Brown and Dorothea Johnson tells readers what they can learn about the people whose hands they shake. What you can learn through the handshake can be used to gear sales pitches, determine pitches to potential business clients, or just how to interact with the person in general based on the personality traits discovered through his/ her handshake. Robert Brown also describes the 12 different handshakes and what they mean. The book tells us how to properly greet people from other cultures, which is especially useful for people who interact with people from around the world regularly for business or personal reasons. I saw Robert Brown on "Fox & Friends" this morning (January 19th) and found the information from the book that he imparted to be very useful. I never realized there was so much to learn from a simple handshake. The psychology behind it is fascinating! I highly recommend "The Power of Handshaking" to people who work in business or anyone who wants a psychological edge when he/ she meets people.
