Amidst the current debates concerning multiculturalism and political correctness, this publication moves the discussion beyond the vagueness of ethnicity to the reality of African empowerment. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I've heard many a discussion on the magnificence of 'The Destruction of Black Civilization'. Dr Williams is apotheosized for it - and he should be. However, along the lines of actually reversing the course African people are on, I think this one is more in-depth. I also think it should be read immediately after the former. His chapter on African education is perfect and a terrific addition to W.E.B. DuBois and Eric Williams expositions on what education should be.
Still timely and brilliant

Though it is an older book than Destruction of Black Civilization, it was written in 1961, and more sociological than historical, the information it contains is still shockingly relevant and brilliant in today's world, especially surrounding the current debate over Afrocentrism. Anyone interested in Chancellor Williams true ideas in detail and his first-hand views and observations of Africa should read this book.
