I was given this book by a young friend who urged me to read it, saying that she thought I would like the real historical setting (Cicero's Rome) and the fact that all the characters but Aulus and his slave had actually lived in ancient Rome. Jack Mitchell has written a great story about becoming a young man in ancient Rome. Although I haven't finished the book yet, I am already quite drawn in to the characters and want to know what will happen as Spurinna travels to Rome. This book is a real page turner and makes you feel like you are back in time!
