The little seagull Luca grows up safe in his flock of seagulls. After a painful encounter with an angry fish, Luca decides not to eat anything that looks at him. He then is excluded from the flock because of this. Luca now lives alone on a small rocky island. Only now does Luca discover how exciting life can be. He learns how great education is and that you can also breathe under water. He saves the Christmas of a desperate dormouse and frees a little mouse from a trap. Luca's life becomes more and more exciting, and he makes many new friends. On searching for a blue dream balloon, Luca realizes that the most wonderful things are often very close and just waiting to be discovered.
