Fun, information-packed and succinct read!

With punny chapters and subchapters such as Stop Repeating Everything I Say (imitators), Finding a Full Time Babysitter (brood parasitism) and Wowing the Women (singing to attract a mate), Gingras succeeds at presenting pertinent, interesting and sometimes grim information in a wholly pleasant and succinct way. If you're a birding beginner, this is a decent place to start. While accessible to those of all ages, it's not a vocabulary type of book. For instance, 'brooding' could be more readily defined for the beginner. Bird information sometimes varies from book to book, and this is typical, since enough bird behavior is theorized rather than defined (known for sure). For example, Gingras states that the egg tooth "falls off after serving its purpose," but others state that the egg tooth is eventually absorbed.
