Book Overview

Keep her secret

Keep her safe

On the 14th November 1940, Hitler's bombs rain down on Coventry. From the rubble of a bombed-out family home, a young girl is saved...

This is a stunning and memorable page-turner of love, loss and resilience for fans of The Secret Wife by Gill Paul

As the Nazis' relentless bombs fall during the Blitz of Coventry, six-year-old Rose Sherbourne finds herself orphaned and under the guardianship of a Cornish farmer's daughter, Elenor Cardew.

Elenor knows that the only way to protect spirited Rose is to leave the city and make a new life for themselves away from harm. But soon Elenor discovers that Hitler's firestorm is not the only thing she must fear when she learns a devastating secret about Rose...

With Rose's life in imminent danger, Elenor turns to the only person she can trust to keep the deadly secret, heroic Canadian pilot, Jackson St John. And amidst the destruction of war, an unlikely romance blossoms as they find a way to protect the child they have both grown to love...and each other.

Enjoyed but I found it dragged a little

This is a good book showing a young woman changes during the war. She takes on and successfully runs a family farm. It is a good read about day to day life and a small child but I had to push to get to the end who did pick up.

Whar a Read

Wow what a great book. The characters are just amazing, showing how things really were back in days during war. I purchased it based on other reviews and boy they were right on. If only the young people could a look back, maybe they would appreciate their lives much more in todays world. The book took me only 3 nights to read as I just could not put it down. Will look for some other books by Glynis Peters as I feel others will not be any less than great. Don't hesitate her writing.

So interesting!

This had me hooked from the start, I am not even finished with it yet and I know it will be one of my favorites. It tells the tale of a young girl named Rose and the background of how her life came to be.
