This book is a fascinating description of a complicated spy network run by the British in Paris during World War I. The first 50 pages are sort of slow--lots of background information with a million names, but it's good that the author takes the trouble to provide context. And once the stage is set, the story really takes off! It's amazing that all of this is true. There's a lot of fascinating detail (she had access to great documentation--even the notes are interesting). She goes into not just the physical and logistical planning involved, but the confluence of personalities who aided and/or hindered the network's activities. Many of these characters deserve a whole book of their own! Recommended.
