Relentlessly, he brings the reader to considering his own eternal destiny, weaving in proofs and stories exemplifying every concievable aspect of man's tenuous grasp on this mortal life. No one can read these sermons without being profoundly moved, without turning from evil to good, or without turning from virtue to even greater virtue. It is impossible to imagine even the most hardened soul could resist the relentless logic this marvelous Doctor of the Church martials up on every page. Here is St. Alphonsus at his very best!
