The book jacket calls it "A novel full of hope & humor". I didn't find any hope or humor in it. (I have her 2 earlier books & liked them a lot.) This one was totally depressing. There are 5 main characters & 5 secondary characters. Seven are related & 3 are friends of the main character. Out of these 10 people, 1 died of Huntington's disease, & 3 have a 50% chance of inheriting it. One of those 3 also has chronic, debilitating back pain & another one has sensory processing disorder. Another character has Alzheimer's disease, one has a horribly disfigured face from birth defects, a couple have heart-breaking fertility problems, one died of pneumonia, one is an alcoholic, & 2 of them abandoned their families. It was exhausting just to read this book, & at the end, I thought there was 1 more chapter but I turned the page & it was the Reader's Discussion! So, if you love depressing books with no resolution at the end, this is the book for you.
