Book Overview

"In the beginning, Simple Abundance was the workshop, not the word. In this new book, I've culled a year's worth of lessons for us to ponder, mull over, meditate upon, work through, and hopefully process...so we can enjoy the life that's waiting for us."

Before Simple Abundance and Something More became New York Times bestsellers helping millions of women discover their authentic selves, author Sarah Ban Breathnach was running workshops that actively guided and inspired others onto the Simple Abundance path. Now Sarah re-creates the heart of these workshops on the page, bringing their essence to women everywhere.

"Some of these spiritual lessons are ones I've embraced, embodied, and swear by. Others are the ones that try my soul during the day and haunt me during dark nights. I consider them spiritual secrets meant to be shared."

In twelve chapters, one for every month, here is a whole year of soulcraft. From gratitude to play, from connecting to the sacred to facing your fears, Sarah provides thoughtful exercises, explorations, excursions, and other creative, pragmatic, hands-on ways to probe your deepest feelings to reveal your authentic self.

"Consider this workbook a personal tutorial. Just you and me. Maybe add a few of your closest pals. But please, let's think girls-night-out instead of study group as we sift and sort. Gratefully I've finally learned to choose fun over earnestness any day of the week and I'm not going back. How about you?"

Excellent

Would do business with this seller again. Fast shipping and product in great condition.

Simple but not Simple

Simple can be a negative word in some contexts. However, simple is beautiful as Sarah writes about it. When I began my own simplicity movement 15 years ago I felt all alone and sometimes felt like caving in and jumping back on the materialistic bandwagon. I discovered Sarah's books several years ago and I've been simplifying every part of my life eagerly and with glee. It is like I have lost 100 pounds. All those extra things I added onto my life since birth rarely gave me lasting happiness.I think a couple of other outstanding books in this vein are The Romantic's Guide by Michael Webb. It shows how you can be simple and yet "The World's Most Romantic Husband." Also, Simple Living is a good read.

Another winner!

Guess I'll make it a unanimous (so far) 5 star rating for Sarah's latest. Like her other stand-alone books, it's filled with pithy humor, undeniable wisdom and gentle guidance--like having a "big sister" to guide you through the journey of self-discovery, sharing equal parts of joy and sorrow, pain and growth. Designed with the idea that each of the 12 chapters takes one month, to be completed in one year, I'd say that's about right. It isn't a workbook to rifle through, but one to relish, savor, ponder and ultimately digest. Thank you, Sarah, for yet another book to help in the excavation process of our Authentic Selves. The sharing of your talents has made us ALL the more richer.

Deliciously self-nurturing

As in her other books, Sarah lovingly encourages the reader to spend some well-deserved time finding out about herself, her world and available resources to enrich and enlighten. Plenty of room in the margins to take notes and record ideas which are very likely to surface in this well thought out and exquisitely written book.

An At-Home Workshop to Find Your Authentic Self

Ever since starting on the SIMPLE ABUNDANCE journey with Sarah Ban Breathnach's first book, I have longed for an opportunity to learn one-on-one from the Queen of simplicity and authenticity. We may not be able to meet Sarah face-to-face, but now anyone can enjoy a workshop atmosphere in the comfort of her own home. Women caught up in the day-to-day deluge of deadlines, appointments, and commitments can now curl up with a pillow and excavate their authentic self. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to savor their life instead of living in a blur.
