Great for Basic Training

I will soon begin conducting dog training with prison inmates, and we selected this book to use as the manual. It covers all the basics; it has great pictures of each step and shows techniques to use when problems occur. It also has a wonderful place to chart the progress of the dog, so when the inmate training is completed and the dogs are placed for adoption, the book will be able to accompany the dog. The new owner will then know what was done during the training so they can replicate the techniques. If you're looking for something to take the dog beyond the basics, I'd suggest augmenting this book with a more advanced book, such as "101 Dog Tricks" - but this is an excellent book for beginners.
