Anne McCaffery is one of my FAVORITE Authors!!! If only Pern could be turned into a Movie like The Hobbit, God That would be OUTSTANDING, but for now the Mind is where we escape to and Her Books make it very EASY!!

Not everyone liked this book, apparently, but I did. I thought that Ms. McCaffrey's (and, to an extent, F'lessan and Tai's) solution to the "What will dragons do now?" problem was original and it made wonderful sense. I thought that it ranked high up there, along with the rest of the Pern series. What a wonderful surprise - I was not expecting another book in the Pern series and was delighted to read this one. I disagree that the introduction of technology into the Pern culture makes the books worse; instead this trend is one of the main "problems" that the wonderful continuing cast of characters must deal with. As a long-time major fan of Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels, I gleefully pounce on them the moment they appear in hardback. In fact, they're the ONLY novels I'll routinely shell out so much money for. In the case of "The Skies of Pern", I managed to get my hands on the UK version...Was it worth it? Definitely! I'd've downed it in one marathon sitting were it not for having to go to work and earn a living. And I reread it...
