This unique information source and time-saver for social studies teachers provides more than 550 useful lists for developing instructional materials and planning for students from the fourth through the twelfth grades. This updated and expanded edition contains 200 new lists! For quick access and easy use, all of these lists are organized into seven sections corresponding to seven areas of the social studies curriculum, numbered consecutively, and printed in a format that can be photocopied as many times as required for individual or group instruction. This book is filled with illuminating facts, startling statistics, practical checklists, and relevant research findings which will enhance social studies courses.
I have been looking high and low for a valuable, interesting, and yet relevant collection of teaching materials to use in the Social Studies/Government classroom; this is it! This is absolutely perfect for the teacher/instructor who wants to add spice to the curriculum. This book features activities and cool facts for U.S. History, World History, American Government, Consumer Economics, Sociology, Psychology, and Geography. The lists in this book would make either great hand-outs, additions to any speech, or perhaps fun FYI's for students. Some of the lists it includes: Political Assassinations, Unsuccessful Presidential Assassinations, U.S. Women's Firsts..., Early Indian Tribes of the U.S., Nautical Measurements, Notable Hispanic Americans, Current Names of Old Places, (and the list goes on). Many lists even cite where the information comes from. There are also puzzles, possible bingo games, and illustrated hand-outs. Although this book is titled for the "Social Studies teacher," it could definitely be used by any subject. The lists in this book could also be used as a reference. Just an all-around great teaching tool.

As a social studies teacher and a scholastic bowl coach I can say that I found this book to be a great resource. It is useful for not only memorization of facts but can be used in the classroom to develop some fabulous projects.
