This is my children's favorite bedtime book. And we have a lot of books. I loved Hailstones and Halibut Bones (the same writer) when I was growing up, and we all are entranced with Cynthia Jabar's way of illustrating children and her ability to evoke a three-dimensional experience on a two-dimensional page--noises, textures, actions.
