Hollywood Star Turns Spy In 1943, movie producer Henrik Zoltan approaches Amelie Blake under the guise of offering the Hollywood star a leading part in his upcoming film, but he has a more meaningful role in mind. Amelie's homeland of Sweden declared neutrality in the war, but Stockholm has become the "Casablanca of the North." When top-secret atomic research goes missing in Sweden, the Allied forces scramble to recover the files before they fall into Nazi hands. The United States Office of Strategic Services (OSS) needs someone who's subtle enough to spy on the Swedish elite without triggering suspicion. Who better than the "all beauty, no brains" Scandinavian starlet? Fluent in three languages and possessing a brilliant memory, Amelie loathes being labeled witless but uses the misconception as her disguise. She's tasked with searching for the crucial files, but Finn Ristaffason keeps getting in her way. Is the charming shipping magnate after the missing research? Or does he have other reasons for showing up at her every turn? With the Gestapo on her heels, Amelie must rely on her smarts in addition to her acting skills to survive a world of deadly spies and counterspies. The Starlet Spy by Rachel Scott McDaniel is the eleventh book in the multi-author Heroines of WWll series. Hollywood actress Amelie Blake is offered the role of a lifetime. She is asked to travel back to Sweden and find the top-secret atomic research that has gone missing. You often hear of the heroes of WWll but what about the heroines? Loosely based on actual historical events, The Starlet Spy, weaves an intriguing, edge-of-your-seat tale.
I received this book from Celebrate-Lit for my honest review.

" I cared about the millions of brave souls who’d sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom. I cared about seeing good triumph over evil."
Like the song, I'm speechless.
This book was so, SO good!!
Rachel, we need a sequel, or maybe a whole series!!
This book has all the perfect elements needed for a great book: a great leading lady and male lead, a good setting, international intrigue, spies, realistic villains, suspense, danger and a clean romance! Not to mention, one of my top favorite authors penned this beauty of a book. 😏
I appreciated how she created a strong female lead without the character being a brat or the typical feminist a lot of books feature. Amelie Blake was no less feminine in what she did as a spy, and she didn't try to one-up the male agents she worked with or carry a chip on her shoulder. She was a confident and humble character despite her cinematic fame.
Even in awkward situations, Amelie was a true lady above reproach, and embodied modesty and dignity. She tackled each new obstacle with grit and grace.
I was glad to see the author's notes in the back about the history and real life characters that she wove into this book.
And the cover- absolutely gorgeous!
Couldn't ask for better.
If you liked Sarah Sundin's last book, "The Sound of Light" you'll love this book!
This is one of my favorite quotes from The Starlet Spy: "Over the past decade, I'd had many roles, but God had called me to go off script. To be the leading lady in the story he'd written for me. I intended to follow the cues from the Director of my heart. For he'd led me... to this moment."
Thank you to the author, publisher, Netgalley and Celebrate Lit for n complimentary e-book I received to review. I was not required to write a positive review (but it was a delight to!) and the thoughts above are my own.
