The Story of Jack Welner: Never Let Hate Take Root In Your Heart

1940, Poland. Nazi Germany has invaded from the East, and nineteen-year-old Jewish boy Jack Welner's life changes forever. He and his mother, brother, three sisters, and nephew, were all forced to move into the Lodz Ghetto. There, conditions were very difficult, with hundreds of people dying each day. Against all odds, they survived there for four years before they were forced onto cattle trailers and told that they were going to Germany to work. However, when the doors opened, they found themselves in Auschwitz. There, Jack saw his mother for the last time, before he was sent to the notorious camp Dachau. Once in Dachau he and the other captives faced many hardships, including an outbreak of typhus, before they were sent on the infamous death march to nowhere. On May 2nd, 1945 the captives were liberated. After liberation, Jack slowly began the process of trying to figure out the fates of his family members.
