This is the tale of a naughty Magical troll called Ivor Windybottom, who uses the foul smell from his trumps to cast unkind magic spells on children playing in the park. Ivor creeps into homes at night to hunt for smelly dirty socks which he eats to fuel his naughty spells. One night Ivor Creeps into the home of a family and there pet dog called Pogo. Pogo the dog has caught sight of Ivor on his day to day activities which always saddens Pogo. While Ivor is hunting around Pogo's home he crawls inside the washing machine to look for more dirty smelly socks, once inside he hears the door click behind him. Pogo stands watching Ivor then to teach him a lesson turns the washing machine on and wanders off. After being washed the door opens and all his magic is changed to good magic Ivor goes from being unpopular and unkind to being a local hero. His anger and hate melt away and he finally finds friends that he has always struggled to find. The whole book is done in rhyme which is a good learning tool for early readers to look at words that are similar. It is as the title hints quite witty with lovable characters that readers can connect with and relate to.
