It’s just a silly string, this wet old thing. Or was it? In "The Things A String Can Be," the main character Sam leaves the house after days of rain with nothing in tow but his imagination. He finds a... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The Things A String Can Be is a wonderful children's book that allows the reader to use their imagination. As a mom, it is a great addition to my sons' library because it has given me an opportunity to talk about using your imagination with my 3 year old. He just loves the book. As a teacher, there are so many ways that I can integrate the book into my classroom teaching. It is a great jumping off point for creative writing. I recommend this and any other book written by Bubblegum books.

Our two year old asks for the "string book" and enjoys it night after night. The text was easy for her to memorize and she recites it along with us. The illustrations contain details that she discovers and rediscovers. Most importantly, the book is helping her name and understand the idea of imagination. We highly recommend this book!
Refreshingly unique

This book takes the age-old concept of "Use Your Imagination" and really makes it shine. It's not too wordy. It's not preachy. It's a perfect book to share with your little explorer. The illustrations are great. They are different from most children's book, and kids love them! My son can verify that. If you want to get your child interested in reading, this is a great way. It's modern, fun, and really unique. Kudos to this publisher for stepping outside the box.

My son loves to read, but is very particular in what he enjoys. Many of the books we own have been read once and then never selected again. Recurring favorites that are read several times a day are "GoodNight Moon", "Click Clack Moo Cows that Type", "Runaway Bunny" and "Mr. Seahorse". "The Things A String Can Be" has joined this distinguished list of books that my son reads over and over. We now read this book three times in a row before bed. He particularly enjoys the bright colors on each page and likes tracing out the string. He also likes to point out all the various creatures and animals on each page. This book is a must-have for any child with an active mind. We have given this book as a present to several friends and it has become a book that they read to their children frequenty. Your child will love it.
Very creative --- kids love this book!

The Things a String Can Be isn't just a story that a child walks away from -- it's a book that engages them and encourages them to use their imagination. I've given this book as a gift to my godson, my boss, and all my friends with kids. From each one of them I hear: "Mimi loves this book -- she loves the illustrations and the story!" "Jackson wants to read the "string" book again -- then he comes up with his own ideas." "The Things a String Can Be" is different than the typical books kids always get, but never pick up to read. Looking forward to seeing more by this author in a series.
