Learn your ABCs in this aquatic exploration of the coral reef. Best-selling author Jerry Pallotta delivers a fun first concepts book that covers sea creatures from A to Z. From the well-known Angelfish to lesser known Humu humu nuku nuku apua'a all the way to Zebra Pipefish, readers will be introduced to over twenty-six tropical species that live in and around the coral reef. Edward Stewart's detailed and vibrant illustrations bring the reader into the colorful underwater world. Covering habitats to inhabitants, this alphabetical journey is told both with wit and scientific accuracy that makes for a fun and funny read aloud that kids and parents will be eager to dive into.
This is the best ABC book. No rhyming silliniss (which isn't a bad thing, we've just been there and done that time and time again). Older kids will enjoy learning about the beautiful fish and animals of the reef found in this book. The illustrations are beautiful. The book is informative and kids will naturally ask questions about the creatures presented on the pages. I am super interested to buy other ABC books by this author on other topics.
Fun, creative way to learn ABC

The alphabet comes alive in this great book. My 18-month old has favorite letters that we look for and loves to show me different parts of the fish -- great teaching tool. This doesn't feel like learning - exploring is more like it!
Excellent

Do you see a theme here - clearly we encourage our "squidlings" to explore the ocean. They led us in this direction and we willingly follow. Easy to read and explain.
Outstanding alphabet book!

I bought this book because my class is studying oceans. I thought the book might be dull but I needed something and didn't find much else. I had already covered whates, dolphins and sharks. So anyway I read it before bringing the book to school and found it entertaining and amusing. The book is not afraid to be funny. It really lightened up the subject and I can't wait to read it to my students. Thanks Jerry!
A must-have if you regularly go to any aquarium.

We had to buy a second copy (a hardcover) because our sons loved the first, paperback, version to death. Taught my kids not only the alphabet but the names of all the fish. I is for Indigo Hamlet was one of my son's first sentences! My four-year-old can i.d. all these fish at the San Diego aquarium (and wants us to find the others at another aquarium). Never boring for adults, unlike some alphabet books.
