You're invited to spend the weekend with three extraordinary sisters... When she was sixteen, Dee Fortune kidnapped her two younger sisters and ran from danger. Now twenty-nine, she's still trying to control her shape-shifting power--no easy task when Danny James shows up one Friday morning with his deadly smile and dangerous questions about the past. Lizzie is determined to save her family from financial ruin by turning straw into gold; now if she could only stop turning forks into bunnies. Then Elric, a sorcerer, appears one Friday--annoyed with the chaos Lizzie is creating in the universe and in his heart. . . . The youngest Miss Fortune, Mare, towers above her sisters but her telekinetic power is dwarfed by their gifts. She spends her days at Value Video and her nights contemplating the futility of her existence. But then a gorgeous Value Video VP and Mare's long lost love turn up. . .and they all turn up the heat on a weekend that no Fortune will soon forget
For those of us who love all things psychic with a passionate spirit, this will appeal to you. I certainly hope they continue the adventures. I enjoy novels with characters to love and care for. Three sisters go on the run after an unfortuante event in their lives. In this plot, the personalities really drive it. There are lots of magical elements, yet the underlying love stories were a big part of it, with a lot of gratitous sex. I did have a difficult time putting this down. This work is very simi8lar to Gena Showalter's Playing With Fire. That is a must read if you you loved Miss Fortunes. Playing With Fire
Great book!

The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes is a unique collaboration, successfully pulled off by three stellar writers. The Fortune sisters have been trying to keep their magic a secret for thirteen years. They just want to be normal. Until their evil aunt tracks them down and tries to steal their powers. Dee is a shape-shifter who happens to be in the form of an owl when her true love, Danny, knocks on their door. She's pretty sure their aunt Xan sent him, so she follows him and gets an eyeful of very sexy man while perched atop the bureau in his room at the B & B. Lizzie is trying to turn straw into gold, but tends to turn flatware into bunnies and everything into sexy shoes. Elric, a sorcerer, has come to stop her, since her mistakes are messing with the fabric of the universe. Once he meets her, all the energy in the cosmos can't keep him from falling for her, so he decides to teach her how to control her power. Mare, the youngest, feels she got the short end of the stick with her telekinetic power. Who wants to move muffins when you can turn dust into sexy shoes or soar above the town as an eagle? So Mare works at Value Video!!, but her life gets more complicated when a not-quite-normal VP from corporate arrives and wants to promote her. Not to mention her long-lost love, Crash, is back after five years and just as irresistible as ever. Instead of three individual stories focusing on each sister's struggle against Aunt Xan, finding her true love and coming to terms with her power, these authors chose to weave the stories together into one extraordinary tale filled with humor and passion. I would love to see Ms. Crusie, Ms. Dreyer and Ms. Stuart collaborate on future projects. I'd also like to get the recipe for that libido spell!--Reviewed by Julie Opdyke
Fun, but conflict packed romance done very well

I purchased this book because I'm a huge Crusie fan, and the website for the book won me over, reading how much the writer's had enjoyed their characters. As a Crusie fan, I was not disappointed. And I'll be checking out the backlists for Dreyer and Stuart because their storylines were written so well. A collaborative effort, the effect is seamless. Three romances, packed into a weekend. I know, a weekend? But these writer's know what they're doing because it's believable and you root for the characters to defeat Xan (an entertaining--twisted, but entertaining--villain) and find their happy-ever-afters. The pacing is flawless, and how could it not be? Three days to resolve a lifetime of conflict, and they make every scene count. But after the last page, my favorite part of the book was how fun it was. Sure, the dialogue was hillarious, and the situations magic-gone-wrong causes are imaginative and engaging. But, it's a fun read. You'll enjoy this book.
A Fun Romp!

I loved this story for many reasons. One it was a collaboration from three well-known and highly accomplished authors, not an anthology of three authors work, but a novel incorporating the three voices. I've read many of their prior individually written books, so looked forward to seeing how three giant egos could pull off this very interesting concept. They did it with aplomb! The one thing for me as a reader that denotes a successful collaboration, is the smoothness in transition from one author's voice to the other. It must be seamless. In TUMF it was. There was nothing not to like in this novel, fabulous descriptive setting and mood, fun witty dialogue, great developing relationships between all of the sisters and their new found love interests, hot, hot, hot sex and magic galore. And those three guys, all different and all yummy! And the antagonist, I loved her. Xan was evil with a heart. I put this book down with a smile and thought about different scenes for days. I'll definitely read this one again. It's the type of story you don't have to rush through, you can take your time and savor it. In fact I think it is better read slowly because it does have three women's seperate stories going on, even though the overall story is intertwined. If I could sum it up in one word it would be "fun" and I suspect the authors had a ton of fun in writing it because it shows.
Definitely a magical book!

When you get three romance authors of the caliber of Crusie, Dreyer, and Stuart together in one book the results are indeed magical! "The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes" is a sassy tale of wit, whimsy, and magic. Each author brings her own style of romance and heroes to the page as they introduce the reader to Dee, Lizzie, and Mare--sisters with a little something extra. Throw in an evil witch of an aunt named Xan and three of the sexiest heroes to grace the pages of a novel in a long while and you have definite sparks! Together the girls have to learn how to control their considerable powers while fighting off their aunt's efforts to steal their powers and make them her own. Add to that the discovery of each of their One True Love and you have a decidedly potent mixture of sex, fun, and some pretty dramatic face offs. A definite "must-read" for romance and paranormal fans alike.
