I bought this book for my husband who is up in Alaska working for the summer. I really had a hard time finding a book that had more information on Alaska than just where to get the best crab legs along cruise routes. My husband would be doing less tourist-ing and more adventuring during his time in Alaska. He was thrilled with all the information at the front of the book that gave Alaska-specific tips about safety, supplies, and "what to expect." This book is perfect for you if you are looking for information about hiking, climbing, camping, and rafting/kayaking trips and only the occasional paragraph about in-town accommodation and great dinner spots. The beginning of the book is organized by activity rather than by region, but you can also look up info about specific regions too.
Nice book

Great if you're taking a vehicle tour of Alaska, going off the main cruise ship drag so to speak. Lots of information.
