She was the enemy he must destroy--no matter how much he wanted her.... Let the rich, dazzling voice of Juliana Garnett wrap you in the passion and pageantry of another time--and the tale of two... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I love well-written and researched medieval romance, and Juliana Garnett is winning a place on my keeper shelves for sure with books like this one, The Baron, and The Knight. If you like Shana Abe and Madeline Hunter, do yourself a favor and check out The Vow or any of the Juliana Garnet titles. Characters you care about and plots that are accurate to their time. Nothing is better.

I've read loads of medieval historical novels, but this one is something special. The hero is cunning and smart, but the heroine is even more so! I like to see a genuinely strong woman who never becomes weak and foolish because she's met the man she could love. And I like to see Luc, the hero, learn that woman are not as simple or as soft as he had thought, but this one will spice up his life as no other could.I liked their friction, which was realisitically handled, and then their love, and how two strong people become devoted to each other.
Marvelous! A wonderful read that does not disappoint!

After having read another of this author's books, I knew I was in for a treat, and I was not disappointed. A wonderful book. I will look for all her others. These characters really came alive for me. Well-researched history only adds to the stirring romance. I fell in love with luc and Ceara.
A wonderful romance that you can't put down!

I just finished reading "The Vow." I read it in one day. I haven't read a book that I have been compelled to read in a long time. I am looking forward to reading other books by this author. I need to get some housework done though before I start another book by Juliana Garnett. The house could have fallen down around me and I wouldn't have noticed while I was reading this book. I just loved it!
A Saxon/Norman romance with panache
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 27 years ago
In 1067 England, Ceara accuses her Saxon father of cowardice because he has pledged his fealty to the Conqueror. She wants to continue the Saxon rebellion. Two years later, an irate William wants to put an end to a resurrection led by Lord Balfour, who two years ago swore an oath of allegiance to the King. He sends Luc Lovat to end the civil unrest. If successful, Luc will be granted the Balfour estate. Luc expects his veteran Norman knights to easily overwhelm the rebels. However, he and his troops are shocked when the Saxons put up a bold fight. What surprises him even more is when he captures his opponent, it turns out to be Ceara. Her father died three months ago. Luc and Ceara are very attracted to each other, but both are very wary of the other. Luctruly believes, with just cause, that Ceara will kill him given the opportunity; Ceara loathes the conquering Normans, who are destroying the Saxon culture. With both these good people on different sides of the fence, how can love be expected to survive, let alone bloom. THE VOW is a gem of a Medieval romance that will thrill fans of the sub-genre. The story line of star crossed Saxon-Norman lovers has been used as a major plot many times, but is freshened up by Juliana Garnett's brilliant talent. The lead characters will excite the reader, especially the intrepid and obstinate Ceara and the secondary players in this magical romance add just the right amount of historical authenticity.
