Robert Farrar Capon is one of my favorite authors and this book is such a perfect example of his creative imagination. Taking the four seasons to illustrate the Eschatology blew me away. Winter is Death, Spring is Judgment, Summer is Hell and Autumn is Heaven. It is a more personal book as he takes us with him on his morning runs through the seasons as he experiences them on his island. It has changed my view of winter because I now look for the buds that are held in joyful anticipation of spring. He has also renewed my joy in the glories of autumn, rather than the sadness of knowing that the leaves will all fall and die. For anyone needing to be comforted after any grief or loss, this is a book that will help you embrace the earthly cycle of life with a deeper faith than when you first started reading The Youngest Day.
This book turned my thinking around

This is one book I've read about five times and have found every reading a pleasure. It is a book which looks at the elements of the Christian faith from a different perspective, the seasons of the year. It is a book of power and beauty. I have purchased several copies to give as gifts to friends and enemies alike.
