A group of monumentally powerful teens must face an ancient, soul-eating foe in this second book of The Star Shards Chronicles. A cataclysmic explosion has given earthly teens astronomical powers--when the star Mentarsus-H went supernova at their conceptions, the teens absorbed the shattered soul of the star and inherited unimaginable abilities. Now the Star Shards have become like gods, drunk on their own power--and ripe for manipulation by The Bringer, a creature who would turn them against one another and transform the planet into his own personal feeding ground. But who is more dangerous: The Bringer or the Star Shards? Acclaimed author Neal Shusterman presents "a story which is grippingly unexpected" (The Bookwatch) that sets the stage for the riveting conclusion to The Star Shards trilogy. Theif of Souls is one of the best books I have ever read. The beginning of the book throws a whole new twist on the theory of Greek Mythology when we are first introduced to the Bringer. I read this book in less than two weeks, normally it would take me three or four months to read a book this size. The book truly is an amazing story and I would definitely recommend it to anybody, because this book would be interesting to just about anybody.
A fantastic sequel to a fantastic book

This second book in the Star Shards trilogy, possibly even better than the first, continues the adventures of the five living shards (one died at the end of the first book) and adds great new characters to the mix. After returning home after the events of the first book, the shards find their lives very different, but they don't stay home long. The shrards must gather again to fight a new enemy, while at the same time they are moving farther apart. This book is highly captivating in a can't-stop-now-must-read-more sort of way. I highly recommend it and eagerly await the next book.
Scorpion Shards

Scorpion Shards is an excellent novel for any astrology loving people! It is a novel about six teenagers each carry a "disease" that is common among typical adolescence, including problems with acne, weight, and fear. It is my favorite novel and I recommend it to anyone who is interested!
The BEST!

Thsi book was simply amzing. The sequel to Scorpion Shards, this book was much more mature, darker, and all around better. You can easily lose youself in the adventures of the 5 remaining heroes. Also, there are a lot more supporting characters, who add to the excitement. I can't wait for Book Three!
Excellent follow-up to "Scorpion Shards"

The second book in the Star Shards trilogy, Neal Shusterman takes the five remaining characters from the first novel, Scorpion Shards, into deeper, darker areas of their own minds. Whereas in the last book the Star Shards dealt with the parasitic "titans" that leached onto their sould, this time around the teens have to deal with their rapidly growing egos, fed by The Bringer's suggestions. In addition to the five familiar faces, three new characters were added this time around: Drew, an all-around nice guy friend of Michael's who feels he has a shameful secret; Radio Joe, an elderly Native American man out to stop the creature eating the souls of unwary victims; and the Bringer, the thief of souls mentioned in the title.Everyone feels the effects this time around as the Star Shards begin to achieve god-like status in the face of the minions. Much darker and more mature than the book before it, Thief of Souls brings together believable characters, wonderfully descriptive scenes, and an exciting conclusion that leaves me craving for more. An excellent book.
